The new GBC OptiMass 9500 is the second generation state-of-the-art Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometer. Simultaneous measurement of the entire mass range from 1 amu to 260 amu is always available. New software features such as Semi Quant, Retrospective Semi Quant, Fingerprintingand Auto Optimisation open up new avenues for mass spectroscopy. Transient analysis, improved isotope ratio measurements and up to 5 times faster analysis compared to conventional ICP-MS. Two of the major areas of application are certification of environmental reference materials and solutions, and forensic analysis.

Another Optimass was installed at the Polytechnik Lodzka (one of Europe's premier educational institutes) in Poland. It is being used in studies of lichens and mosses as an environmental monitors for assessing heavy metal contaminants in the environment.This group also analyses hair samples using Laser Ablation ICP-oTOFMS for in-vivo monitoring of heavy metals in human subjects working in different industries.
